The Missing Article
A short case note is missing every article. Students first ask whether the reader already knows which one, then — if it is one new person or thing — listen to the next sound to choose a or an. Students write one short reason for each choice.
Grammar target
Choose a / an / the by meaning first: the points to a noun the reader can already pick out (from the text or from the situation); a / an introduces one new person or thing the reader cannot pick out yet, and then follows the next sound. The lesson works on single nouns only.
Objective
Students can choose a, an, or the by asking whether the reader can already tell which one is meant, and can explain the choice in one short sentence.
